Gochujang Korean Pepper Paste This is what I use to make the Bibimbap. Their are many ways to make Bibimbap and different vegetables mix in depending on the one making it. I use beef (ground beef or  the usual beef cut into pieces and cooked using soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, pepper), spinach, grated carrots, bean sprouts, rice, sunny side up egg, sesame oil (very little to taste), and gochujang. You mix them all together in your plate and just put a little gochujang. It will depend on you though how much of the Korean sauce you want on your food. The food will be covered with the paste and then you can eat. It’s healthy and really will fill you up fast. Some people sort of stir fry all the ingredients which is also really good.

The way I cook the beef here is like our Filipino-style adobo. I’m not sure how Koreans make their beef for Bibimbap but that’s how I do it. This is the Filipino Bibimbap :D .

I actually got the recipe from My Wooden Spoon. She has lots of recipes in her blog that are really super good. Hope she doesn’t mind I posted it. So here’s the recipe:

Ingredients:

2 3/4 c all-purpose flour

1 tsp salt

1 tsp white sugar

1 tbsp active dry yeast

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp dried oregano

1 tsp dried thyme

1 tsp dried basil

dash of black pepper

kosher salt ( I just use my iodize salt)

1 c + 2 tbsp water

3 tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp Parmesan cheese

Directions by hand:

Stir together flour, salt, sugar, yeast, garlic powder, oregano, thyme, basil, and black pepper in a large bowl. Add 1 tbsp olive oil and water and mix. I use my mixer when I do that.

When dough has pulled together, put it in a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic. Lightly oil another bowl and put the dough in the bowl. Turn to coat with oil. Cover using a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for 20 minutes.

Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). Punch dough down and place on grease baking sheet. Pat into a 1/2 inch rectangle. Make dimples on the top by pushing your fingers down into the dough.  Brush top with olive oil. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, black pepper, and pinch of kosher salt.

Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm with good quality olive oil and black pepper for dipping. I don’t do that anymore. I love this bread with spaghetti, yummy!
