My Yummy Sunday post is our breakfast this morning. Steven made it for me (sweet!) and as you can see in the other plate there’s rice. Yes, that’s for me. He made sure I had rice because my meal won’t be complete without it.

Pancakes with Cream Cheese and Jam January 24, 2009

Usually, when we eat pancakes we put maple syrup and fruit maybe. I asked my husband if he had pancakes with cream cheese and jam on it. He said no and took out our cream cheese and jam and asked me to try it. So I did and it turned out so good. I like that is has a bit salty and sweet taste. I am starting to really like cream cheese now. It’s scary because you know how it’s loaded with calories and I don’t want to end up using weight loss supplement. They’re just so good! This is the time I wish I was younger. :)

Bagels with Sultana Raisins January 21, 2009

Bagels

I finally made my own Bagels and this time it’s almost perfect. I used all-purpose flour instead of bread flour which the recipe called for. It still has the bagely taste :D . Anyway, I will share the recipe for those who want to make their own Bagels.

4 cups all purpose flour or bread flour
1 Tbls sugar
1 1/2 tsps salt
1 tbls vegetable oil
2 tsps instant yeast
1 1/2 cup warm water
chopped Sultana raisins

Mix all ingredients in a bowl. Place the dough on the counter and knead until dough is smooth.
Cut dough into 8 equal sizes and form them into a ball. Let it rest for 10-20 min.
Then take one dough ball and try to rub it in your counter forming it like a snake. Once it is longer, wrap it around one of hands. The overlap should be under the palm of your hand so you can roll these two together on your counter. After doing this to all your dough balls, let it rest for another 20 min.
Preheat oven to 425. Bring a pot of water to a boil. After 20 min, drop the bagels on the boiling water. Let it boil 1 minute on one side and then turn and let the other side boil for 1 minute also. Do not crowd the bagels on the boiling water. Take them out and let dry for a minute.
Lightly grease a baking tray and then put the bagels. Then put the tray in the oven for 10 minutes. After that, you can flip it bake for another 10 minutes. Let cool for several minutes.

Steven’s brother came by yesterday asking him about coilovers for his car online. We don’t own a car yet so Steven doesn’t really know much about it. It’s just nice to see them together and makes me miss my sister more. We played the Risk game and ended at around 10:00 PM. It was Steven against his brother who were left in the game and it was such a tight game. Steven won and it was so funny to see him laugh because he beat his brother. To me, they looked like they were kids again trying to beat each other in this game. It was nice. I love it.

dscf2687When Steven and I went to Portland, we visited his friend who works at a coffee shop. He made this design for Steven’s coffee. I love how he does it. I would’ve enjoyed it more if I drink coffee. He also makes heart design.

Secret Millionaire Show January 11, 2009

Steven and I found this new reality show called Secret Millionaire. They will put people who earn millions of US dollars in a place where there are many poor people. They will then give at least $100,000 to a deserving person. They can divide the money and give it to as many people as they want. One couple gave a $100,000 to three people, that was really generous. Another guy who earned $300 Million gave only $90,000 total to several people. The last episode we saw was a guy who was assigned in Las Vegas poor area. He had to work to pay for his room and there were so many cockroaches so he was really freaking out. He gave to three people and was really touched. It’s just nice to see people give and we really wish we could be one of those. We can always give out something even if it’s not cash. You can give a hug, food, prayer, encouragement and so on. I like the show because I like to see people’s reaction when they receive something and also those who are able to give.

Las Vegas is truly an interesting place to visit. If planning to visit, you can always check the las vegas hotel reservations for place to stay.

I made enchilada but I did it the wrong way. I was suppose to cover the top one with another flour tortilla. It still tasted good but it would’ve been nicer if I did it the right way.

Steven served me for my snack the Coconut Cream Custard and hot cocoa with whip cream. It was really delicious. His office mate made the coconut one and it was really super good. I really wonder how she made the chocolate.

I really don’t like the sound of the alarm clock early in the morning. Steven is the one who always gets up and turn it off. Sometimes he would make it snooze for 10-20 minutes which is nice. Today, we just stayed in bed for a bit and just talked. Normally we would both get up, he will shower and get ready while I cook. He told me how much vacation leave he has earned. Then I asked if I work, would I get the same vacation leave because we plan to go visit my family in the Philippines and then maybe go somewhere else. He said most bosses would let the employees go especially to visit families in other countries.

It would be nice after visiting my family, Steven and I could travel to a different state in US maybe. I check at Outer Banks where you could choose to rent a home of your choice. They have many amenities to offer. I would like to rent somewhere with the ocean view. A dream I hope would come true.

Coffee Cake

I really thought my coffee cake would turn out so bad. I’m just glad it didn’t because I wouldn’t be able to bring it tonight. I used a small container since I don’t have cake pans yet. I really would like to buy one someday.
I also got to make cookies. It turned out bad but the other ones I’m a little satisfied. Different cookies sheets made a difference. Also my butter was not soft enough I think. Sigh!. I’ll keep trying.
