This is not the real photo of the chocolate cake I made. My camera is out of battery so I took it from sxc.hu. I made this chocolate cake with sour cream frosting on it and it turned out so good. Steven loved it so much! I want to share the recipe I got from allrecipes.com here.
Chocolate Cake
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups white sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 pinch salt
- 2/3 cup shortening
- 2 cups boiling water
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch pan. Sift together the flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, cocoa and salt. Set aside.
- Melt the shortening in the boiling water, then stir into the flour mixture until blended. Beat in the eggs, then stir in the vanilla.
- Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool.
Sour Cream Chocolate Frosting
Ingredients:
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar
Directions:
Melt chocolate and the butter together. Let cool and blend in the sour cream, vanilla, and salt. Gradually add the confectioner’s sugar until the frosting is of spreading consistency, beat well.
This is yummy!
I wanted to have an oven at home so that I could practice my baking skills too. I did some baking when I was high school, every summer but now I am a bit of skill-less already.
This is seriously the best cake ever yum!
